Man or woman?

Today, we were running late for school so my mum shouted at me to hurry up and get in the car. I put my school bags in the boot of the car and my mum drove off. It wasn't until she got to my school and told me to get out that she realised I wasn't there. FML

I agree, your life sucks (39845) - you totally deserved it (1997)

Wasn't there a FML JUST like this? I hope it's not the same person...they really might be a pedophile XD

#2 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:09pm by ohdamn

#3, Chill with caps.
Also, FYL, she really that much in a rush to not even bother looking to the side or even considering how quiet it was?

#4 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:12pm by LeftHanded

Very observant. Mother of the year award!

#5 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:12pm by rukusrazor

Your mom owes you one there buddy. And it starts by not having to go to school that day.

#6 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:14pm by genius_man16

How is this a FML?

#7 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:15pm by Demon_Squirtle

lmao aww poor you, im sorry. definitely a parenting fail.

#8 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:16pm by lulzorz

Haha...that's a great FML.

#9 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:16pm by TigressUK

Parenting fail indeed. But seriously? Even if she was THAT oblivious, who in this day and age over a certain age doesn't have a cellphone? Couldn't you have called her phone?

#11 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:19pm by whomajigi

Neglect, FTW!

#13 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:21pm by couragewolf9001

at least your mother tried to get you to school haha

#17 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:29pm by J90

FYL. Your mother should have noticed you were missing. Plus, by the time your mother drove back home, you were probably late for school anyway.

#18 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:29pm by shadow_child

The "boot" thing confused me until I realized you are from the U.K. and were talking about the trunk.

#20 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:36pm by TerAki

#10 don't have a period. It's simply my opinion. I personally think that leaving your son home by accident ISN'T such a bad thing. Stupid, sure. Hilarious, yes. Life shattering? I don't think so. It's a simple stupid mistake that will be humorous to the both of them in the near future. Now calm the fuck down.

#21 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:37pm by Demon_Squirtle

@3-12 : You don't have to type everything in caps for us to read it.

OP, that sucks. Bet she must've felt so bad!! Hopefully you didn't have anything too important to hand it that morning, and that you got to stay home instead.

@11 : In some places now, using your cellphone while driving is illegal. Maybe that's why OP couldn't call.

#22 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:39pm by blouuu

What utter BS. Unless your mom has like, dementia (In which case she shouldn't be driving any way) i don't see how the hell this could have happened.

And #21, don't be so rude. "Don't have a period". What a sexist comment.

#23 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:43pm by ChelseaChops

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

#24 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:47pm by Jessey

doesnt she ever look to the side before she turns a corner? Or if you were supposed to be in the back, doesnt she look behind when she looks in the mirror?

#25 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:47pm by thatrocker

lol your mom is very observant

#27 - On 05/13/2009 at 2:54pm by FBIWarning

ahah ur moms soo stupid, how can she not realize? i bet ur making this up!

#28 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:05pm by alalala

Parents make mistakes. My mom was in a bad mood one morning while getting ready to drive my sister and me to school so we were really quiet in the back seat. When she pulled up to her work and reached back to get her bag she realized she had forgotten about taking us to school :)

I feel your pain.

#29 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:12pm by shanbam

umm....how did your mom not know your not in the car and how did you know she drove all the way to school and realized you weren't there? She couldn't be that stupid and you probably just wrote that to sound cool but in reality she probably just pulled out the driveway before realizing you weren't in the car because most times when you back out, you look behind you...umm *ding ding ding* you weren't there..that def would of been a Red Flag....duhhhh

#30 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:26pm by KillaKellaz

You mom just sped off while you stood there clueless like an idiot rather than at least trying to chase her down?

#31 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:28pm by sdr

Heehee! Idiot. I'll bet she was also the type to be yelling at you about something the whole ride there and if not talking incessantly the whole time, she'd get mad when you wouldn't respond and rant about that, too.

#32 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:41pm by Nakedsquirrel

Lucky for you! No school haha. Now you can hold this against your mom forever.

"Mom, can I have $20?"
"No, why are you so self-"
"Now, Now, mom... remember that time you drove off and I wasn't even in the car...."
*sighs* "Fine, take the damn $20."

#33 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:45pm by Rawrrr14

Fail.

#34 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:45pm by nocturnal_crazy

That's awesome British kid! lol..

#35 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:46pm by GregN617

#36 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:51pm by diabetic_rage

Wait... what? So you put your stuff in the car, but you didn't actually get in? Did she just drive off before you could? lol She must have been very concerned about getting you there on time! So concerned she didn't pay attention...

lol #33! Make that £, though, probably.

#37 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:56pm by Amkii

#36--stop with the reverse FML's!! And that one wouldn't actually BE an fml!
But OP that really sucks...I honestly wouldn't put it past my mom to do something like this haha good thing she hasn't though! She's not exactly too observant, to say the least.
#21--Don't use sexist comments like that. Not only does it show you are a disgusting person, but it just completely destroys your credibility making your comment worthless.

#38 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:59pm by mcsnelly

Ahahaha! My sister did that once picking me up at school- I closed the door after putting my violin in the back seat, about to get in the front, and she just drove off!... and came back like 15 minutes later, lol.

#39 - On 05/13/2009 at 3:59pm by justmeagirl

mum isn't a word

#40 - On 05/13/2009 at 4:03pm by AlexZB

Dang! That sucks.

#41 - On 05/13/2009 at 4:06pm by somewhatvaguely

Well look on the bright side, at least your mom didn't drive off on purpose, like mine did once. It took 45 minutes to walk to my school and I ended up missing my first class. Thanks Mom.

#42 - On 05/13/2009 at 4:15pm by lindsayylou

For all of those who deemed my statement "don't have a period" as sexist, you took it the wrong way. It was merely a way of saying "calm down" and wasn't meant for any sexist intent. Poor taste in humor, sure. It wasn't meant to be discriminatory in any sense and I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way.

#43 - On 05/13/2009 at 4:31pm by Demon_Squirtle

#43--whether YOU think it's sexist or not, IT IS! Just because you don't think you mean it in a sexist way, saying "don't have a period" as a way of saying "calm down" definitely IS sexist, no matter what you think it might be.

#44 - On 05/13/2009 at 4:44pm by mcsnelly

She deserves a bonk in the forehead and a "coulda had a V8"

xD

#45 - On 05/13/2009 at 4:47pm by burrito_supreme

This really isn't an FML... she could easily drive back and get you again.

#46 - On 05/13/2009 at 4:57pm by cheeseandchips

#44 I am sorry then.

#47 - On 05/13/2009 at 5:06pm by Demon_Squirtle

My question, how could you know what she said if you weren't there.

#48 - On 05/13/2009 at 5:08pm by asxp10

#47--I'm sure you didn't really mean it to be sexist, in fact that does happen a lot because it's something that many people do not make themselves aware of. Just next time, say calm down or whatever you actually mean.
#48--Uh well the mom could have told the OP when she got back??

#49 - On 05/13/2009 at 5:16pm by mcsnelly

Wow, haha. I think you GETTING to school is more important than you being EXACTLY punctual. One tardy won't kill you, but if you end up missing a whole class, that's a LOT worse. Sheesh. I'm sorry!

#50 - On 05/13/2009 at 5:20pm by QueenOfMelodrama

49) don't have a period about him

#51 - On 05/13/2009 at 5:31pm by the_boss

your mom sucks dude. ppl who keep saying this isn't a fml, why not? i mean, his own mother LEFT him. It kinda sucks when your mom doesn't notice you're missing. you guys are kinda jerks.

also, "don't have a period" doesn't make any sense to tell a person to calm down. like, since when are women these days so excited blood comes spurting from their vaginas? like, never. periods just kinda happen whether we want them to or not. so that was just a stupid statement in general. I guess the equivalent would be, dude, don't get a boner.

#52 - On 05/13/2009 at 5:50pm by anicolelove

When you're distracted, it's easy to forget things. Ever gone into a store for one thing, and ended up getting everything but that one item? Even though it was on your mind the whole time, it was pushed to the side by other factors. Forgetting your kid is a little extreme, but nobody is perfect. And for the kid, FYL.

Oh, and about the cell phone thing. It's very likely that the kid's cell was IN the bag that got put in the trunk. Schools don't let kids use them. They need to be off and away.

#53 - On 05/13/2009 at 6:00pm by emuhleighx

damn, man. that's terrible. late for school? damn... your life sucks dude.

#54 - On 05/13/2009 at 6:14pm by mister_moops

Hahaha my mother did that to me before after a football match XD
I feel your pain.

#56 - On 05/13/2009 at 6:50pm by AnneFTW

ok this is a "your life is sweet"
... your mom calls you in and you get to go to school late

#57 - On 05/13/2009 at 6:53pm by rssffff08

LOL...Your mother must have been in a really rush. You do realize that you could have texted her and said that you weren't in the car, that is if you have a cell.

@ #60 wow get a life. it is the proper word for them. and uh if you're from the united states, then you should realize that the country was basically based of foreigners coming over this way.

#62 - On 05/13/2009 at 7:10pm by grazynaanka

LOLLL. epic fail for her! hahaha, this made me laugh. x]

@ #60 & 61 - you both fail (:
@ #62 - you shouldn't bother explaining ;p

#63 - On 05/13/2009 at 7:29pm by Roddsy

To fellow Americans-- "boot" means "trunk".

#64 - On 05/13/2009 at 7:46pm by dol567

My dad did something kinda similar once. He started driving before I was actually in, so he ended up driving over my foot.

#65 - On 05/13/2009 at 7:56pm by Soup

loll it was early in the morning, right? She was probabaly just tired. I wouldn't blame her, I'm also very absent-minded when I'm tired.

#66 - On 05/13/2009 at 8:03pm by GreaserGirl

haha what the hell? Id just stay home.

#67 - On 05/13/2009 at 8:17pm by NycBrooklynBoy

Dude, I love how British this guy is.

#68 - On 05/13/2009 at 8:29pm by boboman911

wow #46 how is is NOT an FML. the fact that it took thier OWN mother like 10 minutes to relize they were gone, definitley is F**ked up.

#69 - On 05/13/2009 at 8:31pm by xCassiex

She probably did it out of spite. You shouldn't be late though.

#70 - On 05/13/2009 at 8:32pm by 24788

#72 - On 05/13/2009 at 8:58pm by Tsukasa

I would have called her on my cell phone and been like, Um, hi mom. Still waiting on the curb here for you!

#73 - On 05/13/2009 at 10:13pm by jaded110

LOL

#74 - On 05/13/2009 at 10:47pm by foreverxalwaysx

If you were by the boot of the car, couldn't you just knock on the windows to get her attention as she was driving away?

#75 - On 05/13/2009 at 11:20pm by shaPOW

sadly my dad did that once to me too lol he only made it halfway to the school haha

What a wording.

Actually, it is. I believe it's some sort of flower.

#82 - On 05/15/2009 at 1:17am by lilcuti3pi389

LMAO!!!! If that had been my Mom, I would pay big money to see the look on her face as she turnes around and realizes she forgot me. EPIC FAIL!!!!!!

#83 - On 05/15/2009 at 6:17am by QueenBouta

Love this. My mum did the exact same thing. Except in front of the whole school. She came to pick me up from school and I opened the back door, put my bag and clarinet on the back seat, closed the door and turned to open the front door and she drove off. She had a conversation with me the whole way home, I had friends who were driving in cars next to her and witnessed it. And of course friends who witnessed her drive off and leave me behind.
Not exactly FML, more FUCKING HILARIOUS.

#84 - On 05/15/2009 at 9:27am by biance

now i'm watching for an FML that says "today i was rushing to get my kid to school. he put his books in, and i drove off. it wasn't til i got to his school that i realized he wasn't in the car with me. fml."

#85 - On 05/15/2009 at 12:33pm by laughingwillow

#86 - On 05/16/2009 at 11:45am by Dan92
